Solar Energy Cheaper than Coal

Looks like a combination of a parabolic dish and a fresnel lens !

  1. Those Fresnel Towers could easily be downsized and sold for private homes, occupying no more space than the first generation satellite dishes, with the addition of a tracking mechanism. Tracking mechanisms can either be passive, responding to the sunlight, or active, powered by a (solar) electric motor. They can also be used to just make hot water for domestic use or space heating. If just used for heating water, the cost is considerably lower. Win, win.
